Electrical Safety Tests

Description: What is PAT Testing? Electrical appliances start off perfectly safe but with use can deteriorate to an extent where there is a risk of an electric shock or a fire. Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)  ensures that electrical appliances continue to be safe to use. Why PAT testing is required: - For safety of personnel against electrocution ( such as using a damaged hand tools, unsafe extension cable, missing earth connection,...etc) - To prevent fire ( such as incorrect fuse rating, overloaded extension, insulation damage,…etc) - If there was a fire and the management could not show that regular PAT testing ( as well as fixed wiring tests) had been carried out, some insurance companies could take this into account when arriving at settlement figures. - There are a number of Health and Safety Regulation that are in place to protect employees from danger.
